Over the course of the book, we slowly watch their relationship develop and Theo open up a little as he starts to trust Henry.

He uses it to assassinate the King of Diamonds and the King of Clubs, and trap Nomad, Jack, and the London agents in their bunker to suffocate. It’s been exciting to read this series as it released, and Heart of Stone caps off the series perfectly; but it’s also been really hard to wait for the next book after finishing the prior one. I may have said this on one of the other books, but I'm glad I didn't know about the series until all six books had released. This is closed door, which feels true to the characters, but there are also erotic drawings and dreams.

The pining is also not particularly satisfying, given that the author, at least in this book, showcased his poor ability to hold tension in a natural and organic way. That did leave room for character growth, however, and that element has ramped up more with each subsequent release until all those pieces came together with a bang in this story.Plus, both of them have to somehow reconcile themselves with the fact that their relationship kinda sorta started off as that of an employer and his secretary. I haven’t got much to say about this book, except that, on more than one occasion (see: the entire read) I felt that, rather than experiencing a novel, I was listening to a tumblr mutual rant to me about their OCs in great detail. I honestly didn’t think I’d be reading much of anything this month given *waves hands* everything going on right now until a Twitter thread by this author caught my eye.

Rem has to figure out what to do to fix things while simultaneously adapting to who he is in this timeline. And so the story goes, following Henry and Theophilus as they develop a close working relationship that turns into a friendship, colored on both sides by mutual, but unspoken - indeed, repressed and denied - attraction and, eventually, love. The story’s resolution was, also, managed terribly, given it was rushed and hinged on tired tropes such as miscommunication and jealousy. So all I’m going to say is… this book was just as much of a rollercoaster as the rest of the series! Luka likes to put his personality into his texts, not shying away from including his opinions and passions supported by facts and trusted sources. But mostly this series made me cheer passionately for these people, these characters that have become like family to me.
