This leads to dried-on water marks and a small puddle on the base unit, and for the sake of a minor design change to put a small V shape into the front of the spout to solve this dribble, but it is not a problem but it is an annoyance on an otherwise good design.

I can't report on long-term use yet but here's hoping I get at least a year or two before any problems appear. I have to say that for the first few boils, a plastic smell and taste was present, but this was fixed with vinegar. My water is regularly reboiled about four times before emptying, but I would never top up a part-filled kettle.
